quickie costco trees post!

So greenhouses at the supermarkets are all getting set up finally! :) most aren't open quite yet, but Costco is already! They don't have everything out yet, but the hardier plants that can tolerate a bit of cold are already for sale in their outdoor greenhouse section! Yay!

This year is gonna be very very hard for me... because I litterally don't need anything from a greenhouse this year!! :) Crazy right!? This would be the first year. I shouldn't speak too soon I guess. It's not  the may-long just yet...

Anyways, one of the things they have out now is all their fruit trees. They have some really cool selection this year! Costco is your cheapest place to buy trees. I kid you not, same variety of apple tree at Shelmerdines was $130.00 and $30.00 at costco! For real... same height, just as healthy... it's actually a little bit insane how cheap their trees are. If you're considering buying even one tree, it's worth getting a costco membership... heck even an executive membership at that price difference! For realz folks!  (and remember, I'm not sponsored at all. This post doesn't profit me whatsoever. I was not asked or coerced into bragging about costco lol)

They don't have their prices up yet, but i'd gather between $30-40 tops even with inflation. I took some photos of the tags for y'alls so you can do some window-shopping and see if anything peaks your interest. I'm excited about their multi-variety trees. With four kinds of apples on the same tree stock, or 4 kinds of pears. I might cave into the pear ones yet if they are still there in a month or so. I have no desire to baby a tree till may-long lol

Note: on a desktop you'll be able to read all the info on the lables. Smartphones seem to dumb down the images quite a bit! So if you see one you want to look at more closely, just use the desktop to look closer. :)

Aren't those cool!? These kinds of fruits only grow here because they took a hardier tree, and grafted in branches from a more sensitive fruit tree. Eg: A native crabapple tree root system is grafted with a goodland apple tree branch to give you a goodland apple tree that can survive in our winters... So for the above fruit trees they grafted in 4 different kinds of tree branches! Cool eh?

Below are a few other single-variety trees too. (remember apples and such require another tree to cross-pollinate. If you live in Winnipeg it shouldn't be an issue cause someone else nearby within a bee's flying distance will also have an apple tree for cross-polination) buy a second tree if you live on an acreage!

PEARS!

APPLES!

Although this last one isnt for fruit, it sounded really pretty! Its foliage stays red throughout the season and it gives very nice fall show! :)

PLUMS!

CHERRY!

That's all for now! :) this is just an in-betweener post to help you out in your yard shopping this year!

Till next time, keep those thumbs green!
